If you were to ask my husband and me what our favorite city in New Hampshire is, without doubt the answer would be Portsmouth! So when the opportunity arose to shoot an engagement photo session in that fair seaport city, I was delighted! Appealing to my love of the past, there is so much lovely history and historical sites to tour there and I just love the downtown vibe of bustle and bohemia it possesses. When it was decided that Portsmouth was going to be the location for this engagement photo session, I think I did both an internal and external happy dance. Without further ado, I’d like to introduce you to Grant and Christine, a delightful, newly engaged couple.
They make their home in Dover, not far from Portsmouth. They absolutely adore the city too and love enjoying all it has to offer for restaurants and nightlife. We began our session in the flower gardens at Prescott Park. During the summer, they are simply spectacular! I wish I could make my garden look even just a fraction as colorful!
I don’t have to tell you that these two are a fun-loving couple, do I? They were troopers in the warm weekend sun too. I barely had to direct them in poses – they simply did not want to stop being close to one another, and no encouragement for a kissing shot was required.
I don’t need to tell you of the love that exists between these two. It is palpable and infectious. You simply feel great around these two!
Christine and Grant were up for anything I suggested for their session. As you know, I have a thing for putting people in trees and this was a perfect candidate. There’s a little story and a candid photo of me hanging upside down from this tree….but I’ll save that for another post of “things your photographer may get up to on your shoot.”
Did I mention these two were also athletic? They had just the previous day spent their time rock-climbing.
One of the great things about Prescott Park, apart from its fabulous summer arts festival, is the variety of backdrops available in a small space. Without walking too far, we had completely switched things up from a flower and nature environment to this urban brick.
A few steps more and you have a typical seaside and historic New England home to work with.
Walk another 30 yards and you are on the pier in the harbor! Did I mention I love Portsmouth? As you can see, we had the perfect weather for this engagement photo session. The clouds were like cotton balls in the sky. They could have been cotton candy.
There were so many sights behold, but there was one sight of which Grant clearly could not get enough. That of his beautiful bride-to-be.
I wish you both all the happiness, health and prosperity for your future. It was a pleasure to spend a beautiful morning with beautiful people in a beautiful location. Thank you, Grant and Christine, for the opportunity!
